I am thrilled to be a part of this year’s Summer Must Haves from Lion Brand Yarn! Lion Brand sent me over some of their amazing Coboo yarn to design with and trust me when I say, this will quickly become your new favorite yarn.

Coboo is part cotton, part rayon from bamboo and is one of the softest yarns I’ve ever worked with. It is a must have when it comes to crocheting garments for the summer.

I had been wanting to design a v-neck tank top for a while so I knew this was the perfect opportunity to give it a go. The Takeo features a slight a-line shape and moderate v-neck that will flatter all figures. It’s all inclusive sizes includes XS-5X. The best part is you will only need 4-7 skeins total and you can grab a kit now from Lion Brand. Each kit includes all the yarn you will need and a printed copy of PDF pattern! Grab your kit at the link below.

Notes:

1.Tank is worked bottom up starting with the ribbing. Front and back are then seamed together on the sides. The straps are connected while finishing the neckline and arm holes.

2.Chs at beginning of rows do not count as a stitch unless otherwise stated.

3.It is recommended to go through the entire pattern and highlight all sts counts and numbers related to your desired size before beginning.

4. Coboo tends to split as you use it. To prevent major splitting start using the yarn from the outside of the ball.

Finishing:

Lay front and back pieces on top of each other with right sides together, lining up the sides. Using a long piece of  yarn and a tapestry needle, seam up the sides from just above the ribbing to where the arm holes begin (see red line).

where to seam.jpg

I used the mattress stitch, but you can chose whichever seaming method you like best.

Turn tank right side out and lay flat.

We will now be crocheting around the arm holes and the neck hole to attach both pieces together at the shoulder.

IMG_3158.JPG

Attach yarn at seam of one underarm. Ch 1, sc into same st as join and evenly up the arm hole. When you get to the top of one side, work next st into the top of the second side. Sl st to first st to join.

Repeat with the second arm hole.

Try tank on. If the arm hole is too tight, re-do finishing and add a few ch sts in between the two panels where they connect at the shoulder.

Flip tank over and attach yarn to bottom right side of the back neckline (see arrow in photo).

Ch 1, sc in same st as join and in each st across until you hit the first triangle. Then evenly sc up the side of the triangle and again work directly into the front side after you reach the top of the back.

Sc evenly down the front side and work a sc2tog in the two stitches in the very center of the v-neck.

Then continue to work sc evenly up the front and down the back neck line. Sl st to first st to join.

If needed, stitch the tops of the shoulders together where the points come together.
