The Quilo-Traveling Seasons Afghan Square 10
Winter is coming and it starts with the Quilo Square! Find the free pattern below or grab a digital PDF in my shop.
Another year, another Traveling Afghan! This year the Traveling afghan is a seasonal one with 13 designers sharing squares inspired by their favorite memories from that season.
Winter will always hold a special place in my heart. Growing up in the Midwest we had cold, snowy winters and I have fond memories of playing in the snow with my sisters. The coziness of being with the ones you love, a hot cup of cocoa after a day of playing in the freshly fallen snow, and warming up under a handmade blanket by the fire. Winter will always remind me of home. I hope that as you create your own Quilo Square you are reminded of your own winter memories.
The Quilo Square is made in two parts and then sewn together to complete the look. The base is a simple single crochet square which is perfect for when you want to just chill and watch a movie. The snowflake is a fun little piece that looks complicated but is actually really simple and easy enough for confident beginners. I’ve also included a video tutorial for the snowflake so you’ll see exactly how to make it.

Sewing:
Pin snowflake to square as pictured below. Center the snowflake on the square. Use stitch markers or pins to hold it in place.
Using a long tail of yarn and a tapestry needle, sew the snowflake to the square using your preferred method. This does not have to be perfect. Use small stitches so they stay as hidden as possible.
Weave in all ends and enjoy!
