Have you ever worked with sock weight yarn? If not, it’s the perfect time to try. My friend Katy over at KT and The Squid put together the most beautiful Everyday color collection in mini form. When Katy asked if I wanted to design something with her minis I responded with an enthusiastic YES!

I knew it was the perfect time to try out some new stitches I’d been eyeing in Dora Ohrenstein’s book Crochet Everyway Stitch Dictionary. Katy’s yarn was made for this stitch pattern. I loved working on it and once I got the hang of the pattern repeat it was smooth sailing. The minis created the most beautiful stripes and I loved using them horizontally along the scarf.

Honestly, the hardest part was choosing which order to place the colors. There are seriously endless combinations so you can truly make it one of a kind.

It had been a while since I worked with wool yarn so I knew once I finished it would need a good blocking. I highly recommend blocking your Dari scarf. It gives the piece such great stitch definition and it helps it to “grow” a ton in length. Mine grew a ton! I even made a fun little Reel over on my Instagram account of the whole blocking process.

If you want to make one like mine head to KT and The Squid’s shop to grab your minis today!

Fasten off and weave in all ends. Block scarf. The scarf will “grow” quite a bit during the blocking process.

Fringe: (optional)

Cut (8) 20” lengths of yarn from each color.

Take 2 lengths of yarn and fold in half. Then attach to the short end of scarf by slipping the folded end through the edge and then pulling the ends through the loop to secure.

Make sure to attach two sets of 2 to each coordinating color along both ends.

Once all fringe has been attached, steam the strands and trim to desired length.

Now go enjoy your brand new Dari Scarf! The long length gives you multiple options for how to style it. I’d love to see your finished scarf. Make sure to tag @meghanmakesdo and use #thedariscarf on social media so I can see.

As always you can grab a digital PDF version of this pattern in my shop, Etsy or Ravelry.

Happy Crocheting!
