The Bexley Pullover- Free Knitting Pattern

The Bexley Pullover- Free Knitting Pattern

The Bexley pullover is elegant in its simplicity. Made with the incredibly soft LB collection chainette yarn, it is sure to become a favorite in your wardrobe. The Bexley features an oversized fit with tapered sleeves and lacy flower pattern throughout. Find the free pattern below, the printable PDF in my shop or grab the complete kit from Lion Brand Yarn.

The day is finally here! I am beyond excited to be bringing you this brand new knitting pattern, The Bexley Pullover. It is my new favorite sweater and I know I’ll be wearing it all winter long.

I’ve had this idea for a pullover for a while and knew that Lion Brand’s Chainette yarn would be the perfect companion to the lacy flower details of the Bexley. It’s one of the softest yarns I’ve ever felt and the chain construction makes it perfect for a lightweight sweater.

If you are new to lace knitting, this is a great project to practice on. The lacey flowers are super simple to make using basic yarn overs (yo), knit 2 together (K2tog) and the slip slip knit (SSK). The back is a basic rectangle shape and the front has a bit of easy neckline shaping. The sleeves are worked bottom up with increases along the way to create a nice taper. It has an oversized boxy fit that looks great on all figures.

I hope you love the Bexley as much as I do!

seaming.jpg

Seaming:

Using a tapestry needle seam the front and back panels together at the shoulders. You can use whichever seaming method you prefer. I used the invisible seam.

Then lay out the front and back panels flat with RS facing up. Align each sleeve along the edge of the sweater so that the center of the sleeve is in line with the shoulder seam. I suggest using pins or stitch markers to hold the sleeve in place.

Starting at the shoulder seam and moving down along the sweater, seam the sleeve in place one side at a time. You will need to skip every 4th row of the front and back panel in order to avoid puckering.

seaming sides.jpg

Fold the sweater in half so the arms and side seams are lined up. Then seam the sides and sleeves using your preferred seaming method. It can be helpful to start at the underarm and work your way to the cuffs and bottom ribbing.

Neckline:

Neckline is made by picking up stitches along neck opening and working in rounds.

Change to 16” size 10 circular needles.

With RS facing out pick up stitches along neck opening, starting at the right shoulder seam. Pick up 35(35, 35, 39, 39, 39, 39, 43, 43) sts along the back neckline, 20 sts along the left side of neckline, 19(19, 19, 21, 21, 21, 21, 23, 23) along the front neckline and 20 sts along the right side of neckline. Feel free to add or subtract stitches to get desired neckline and to ensure you are able to fit it over your head. If adjusting the stitch count make sure to end with an even number of sts.

Approx. 94(94, 94, 100, 100, 100, 100, 106, 106)

Rounds 1-4: *K1, P1, repeat from * around.

BO and weave in all ends.

Block if needed.
