Notes:

1.Pattern is worked in the round throughout.

4.Pattern is worked in multiples of 4 sts. Adjust the size of the hat by adding or subtracting beginning chains by 4.

Special Stitches:

We will be alternating sections of the diamond lattice stitch and half double crochet slip stitch in the 3rd loop. This section can be a bit tricky so I’ve included photo tutorials for both stitches and you can also check out the video tutorial above. If you’d like a more detailed view of the diamond lattice stitch you can check out my video tutorial on YouTube.

Front Post Treble Crochet Two Together (fptrc2tog):

To work a fptrc2tog you will yo twice, insert hook from front to back and then to the front going behind the stitch indicated.

Yo and pull up a loop (4 loops on hook), yo and draw through 2 loops (3 loops on hook), yo and draw through 2 loops, leave the last two loops on hook.

Yo twice and insert hook from front to back and then to the front going behind the next stitch indicated.

Yo and pull up a loop (5 loops on hook), yo and draw through 2 loops (4 loops on hook), yo and draw through 2 loops (3 loops on hook), yo and draw through all 3 loops.

Half Double Crochet Slip Stitch (hdcslst):

Yo, insert hook in stitch indicated, yo and draw up a loop, draw that same loop through both loops on hook.

Working in the 3rd loop:

The hdcslst will create two loops in the front and an extra loop in the back. You will need to work some rounds into that 3rd loop instead of into the top of the stitch.
