There’s a new yarn in town and it’s perfect for the summer! Get ready to try out the brand new Buddy Hemp yarn from Wool and the Gang. This yarn is amazing! It’s a cotton/hemp blend and is surprisingly soft which gives it beautiful drape.
My friends over at Wool and the Gang sent me one of their new kits to try before its release. Today I’m going to share my experience with you and give you an up close look at the new yarn.
This was my first time receiving a kit from Wool And The Gang and I was blown away by what I got. They not only sent me the yarn, hook and pattern for the True Love Cardigan, but also had some extra goodies inside too!
They sent along some REN clean sunscreen, Greta Thunberg’s new book and a super cute Wool And The Gang tote, made from hemp of course!
I jumped right in as soon as it came and made a up a small swatch to check my gauge. My tension was a little loose so I decided to go down a hook size and use my G 4.25mm instead. I got a few rows in and it was looking rather large so I measured the width and it was going to be massive!
I decided to frog what I had done and start again making a smaller size. This time I worked up the next size down and ended up getting the perfect measurement for the size I needed. I tried to tighten up my tension a bit too just in case.
The back piece took the longest, but once that was done the front two panels and the sleeves worked up quick! I loved that all the information I needed was right there in the pattern booklet. It not only has the written pattern instructions for all sizes, but includes detailed notes on specific stitches and techniques used in the pattern as well as links to online video tutorials.
The kit is great for those who are new to crochet or those who have a hard time reading a traditional pattern as everything is so well explained and written.
Once I had all the pieces made it was time to seam it up. The seaming was relatively easy and didn’t take as long as I expected. Before I knew it, I had a finished cardigan!
I chose to leave it without buttons because I love open front cardigans. It’s a super comfy cardigan and looks great with jeans and t-shirt as well as with a dress or romper.
I took mine for a spin at the beach and it kept me comfortable in the sun and provided a bit of warmth as the evening progressed.
You can now find the new Buddy Hemp Yarn on the Wool And The Gang website as well as some brand new kits to try including the True Love Cardigan. Head on over the the link above to check them out, I promise you won’t be disappointed.
Happy Making!
