My Monthly Make-The Granite Cape
Another month is over, which means another item has been completed! This month I cut it real close. I finished this just in time yesterday. By the time I was finished it was dark outside so I had to wait until today to get the pictures I wanted. I'm so excited to show you my make for April, the Granite Cape from All About Ami!
Isn't it gorgeous? Stephanie, the maker behind All About Ami, is amazing. I love all of her designs and have had The Granite Cape on my list of things to make for a long time.
I had so much fun making this cape. It uses the most beautiful granite stitch throughout the body and it was easy to assemble once all the pieces had been made. The front and back are made as one large piece and can easily be adjusted to fit any size.
The pattern is written in one size and is meant to be a bit over sized. I'm a bit taller than Stephanie so I decided to make some adjustments so it would be long enough and wide enough to achieve the same look that Stephanie did.
For my cape I added ten stitches to the width and 2 inches to the height. I also made my arm holes a half inch larger so I seamed up the sides until I was 10 inches from the top. Due to the larger size I ended up needing 8 skeins instead of 7. I chose Lion Brand Heartland yarn in Grand Canyon.
This piece is super comfy and warm and I know I will wear it often.
If you want to make your own Granite Cape you can find the free pattern on Stephanie's blog, All About Ami or the PDF version in her shop.
You can also learn more about Stephanie and see more of her amazing patterns at her website or on instagram.
I love that I have another handmade piece to add to my wardrobe. This month has taught me what I am able to accomplish in one month, which is surprisingly a lot. While I wasn't able to get my post up in the month of April, I was able to complete everything on my list and that feels really good. Thank you so much for following along with my maker's journey. I can't wait to get started on my monthly make for May! Stay tuned!
