A few months back I had the honor of receiving a copy of a brand new crochet book by one of my favorite designers. Teresa of Debrosse_NYC created the most amazing book called Modern Crochet and let me tell you, it’s a must have for any crocheter.
I was thrilled when the book showed up at my door. I couldn’t wait to dive in and see all the beautiful patterns that Teresa created for this book. She has such a great sense of style and her neutral color scheme gives everything a cozy at home feel.
The first section of the book covers all the basics you will need to know about crochet. Things like yarn weights, how to weave in ends, what hook sizes to use and how read a pattern. This is information I would have loved to have all in one spot when I first started crocheting over 20 years ago. She goes through everything in such clear, concise language that you immediately feel like you know what you are doing.
The detail in which she explains the language of a crochet pattern is amazing. It’s become my go to resource when I get stuck on writing or reading a pattern. It’s perfect for both the novice and the master crocheter.
The second section of the book contains 16 gorgeous crochet patterns expertly designed by Teresa. The patterns range from home decor to accessories and all are made with high quality yarns that we can easily find in store or online.
Each pattern includes photo tutorials to help along the way and some can easily be made in just a couple hours. I had a bit of We Are Knitters cotton on hand so of course I had to try one out myself. I was able to whip up The Coteaux Tassel while watching one of my favorite shows.
The last section of the book covers crochet stitches and skills. Teresa does an excellent job of showing basic crochet stitches and seaming techniques. I love that there are so many helpful photos included so you know exactly what you need to do. She also includes links to online video tutorials so we can see the stitches in action. Seriously this book has everything!
If you haven’t picked up a copy of Modern Crochet, I highly recommend that you do. It’s a must have for any crocheters library and a book that you are sure to pick up again and again. You can now find Modern Crochet on Amazon. Make sure you give Teresa a follow over on Instagram to keep up with all her beautiful work.
Happy Crocheting!
